Another Week Down!

October 29, 2008

Well, strap in tight, folks! We’re getting down to the nitty gritty of the deployment :)

In all likelihood, Abe will not be home for Thanksgiving but there is a possibility that he could be in the great USA! So, though the countdown isn’t really accurate, we’ll just call it a countdown to the final countdown :) It’s still incredibly exciting to see that bit o’ red shrink every week!!! Woohoo!!!

AAAAANNNDDDD just to prove just how VERY CLOSE we are to his homecoming, check out what I received in the mail yesterday!

I’ve never been so excited in all my life to see a nondescript, black, padlocked tote in all my life :) It took some creativity with a crow bar to pop ‘er open but I got in there! I don’t want to say what was in it, in case some of the Iraqi goods are presents for folks but I’ll just say it was packed full! :D

To make the end of the deployment that much sweeter my Swiss Sis, Noemi, flew in tonight/this morning :) HOORAY! She hasn’t been back to the USA since mine and Abe’s wedding back in ‘06. It’ll be awesome to have her here for the next couple weeks!

On that note, it’s 1:45 a.m. so it’s about time I rest my weary bones :)

Have a blessed week, everyone!

Punk’in Pickin’ :)

October 28, 2008

Last week, on Coop’s birthday actually, I met some of the family to go pumpkin picking with three of my nephews and my neice. We went to Bush’s Market just outside of Columbus (in case you’re in the area and need pumpkin, veggies, gourds, fresh cider, I could continue…) for the traditional picking out of the pumpkins.

Here’s the whole lot of ‘em :) Lain, Cooper, Taylor and Logan!

Lain’s tough! That pumpkin’s about as big as him!

Cooper says “I’ll take them all, thanks!”

Awww… what a great afternoon!

“Grandma and grandpa” even bought their fav-…er, “baby” daughter some pumpkins to carve! ;) I can’t wait for tomorrow evening! Noemi, my Swiss Sis, flies in tonight and we’re all getting together tomorrow for some carvin’ fun! Woohoo! :D

Puppy Dog – Latest Finished Object.

October 24, 2008

For Cooper’s first birthday, I wanted to do something “special”. I wanted to MAKE a gift, instead of buying something. I wanted to make him something that he could hold onto for a while. Something that he might want to keep to give to his kids or maybe even a nephew of his own one day.

Or perhaps I’m romanticizing…

I just remember how special the things Mammy (my paternal grandma) were to me when I was little and still are today and feel that my knitting is something special that I can give friends and family that might mean more than something store-bought.

SO, I set out to make Cooper the first knit toy I’ve ever attempted. I made him a long dog :) And he’s not perfect but that’s okay – cause, neither am I! I love him :) And I hope Coop will love him too… you know, once he realizes what it is and stuff :) Haha.

He bears a striking resemblence to Ted, dontcha’ think?! :)

:)

…and I never mentioned how much I **LOVE** my new lens. It’s an 18-250mm… and that means nothing to you but it means I get the rockin’ background, if I want it, like in the pic of Tedster. LOVE it.

Cooper’s 1!

Can anyone tell me where the past year has gone?!

How can this child already be one year old!?

How did he go from this:

to this:

I know that October 23, 2007 was the happiest day ever for Josh and Nicole! How could it not have been?! Cooper is so precious :) A gift from God! You two are so blessed and I’m blessed as well to have the lil’ guy in my life!

::tears::

I’ve gotta stop the sap.

MUCH LOVE to you Baby Cooper… or Toddler Cooper… I can’t really call ya’ a “Baby” anymore!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
